Competition entries

All realized projects, which assign to the following categories and are completed after 30th June 2015 can be handed in.  A maximum of three projects per entrant may be submitted in one or more categories. There is no charge for entering the competition.


The competition is open to architects, interior designers and design professionals. Building owners and product manufacturers may also submit entries, provided they indicate the names of the architects, interior designers and design professionals responsible for the project in question.


The AIT Award is divided in twelve different categories: all types of architectural projects and interior spaces can be submitted.

8. Public Building
9. Education
10. Production

Special categories:
1. Future housing concepts in urban space: Conceptual ideas and studies as well as built prototypes of different housing models, which contribute to the innovative redensification of existing urban structures
2. Newcomer: Office foundation after 1.1.2008. Office founder under 40 years old, at least five completed projects, all mentioned categories are allowed



Documents to be submitted

The following documentation must be submitted in English or German.
One display board in A0 format (84,1 x 118,9cm, portrait format) per project, with all the plans, elevations, cross-sections, detail drawings and photographs necessary for visualizing and understanding the project. Please download the Layout for the display board from The plans have to be mounted on a 10 mm kappa board (foam board). To avoid packaging and transport coats we highly recommend to print the boards at a print shop in Hamburg. The contact will be send with the confimation of registration.

Explanatory report (one A4 page, in English or German)
The description of the project should contain the underlying design thinking, the spatial concept and information about the use of materials. If the building’s concept fulfils guidelines of sustainability, a brief statement is requested.

Declaration of authorship (also doubles as entry form: see appendix). Please fax copies in advance, to reach us not later than 30th October 2017!

All documentation must be sent to the competition organisers at the entrant’s own expense. Upon receipt these materials will become the property of AIT, they will not be returned and must be made available without charge to the organisers (for exhibitions, documentation, publications, internet presentations, press photos, etc). Especially photographs of the submitted projects and portrait photos of the author(s) responsible for the design must be made available free of charge for purposes of publication of the award.
